This is the land that inspired photographers and painters such as Ansel Adams, Elliott Porter, Laura Gilpin, Paul Strand, and Georgia O’Keeffe. With Tony as your knowledgeable guide, through field experiences and digital lab practice, you explore your own creativity, expand your visual skills, and enhance your understanding of the photographic process, from capture to print.

White Sands: Capture to Print

With Tony Bonanno
November, 2018

“Tony really gave me what I needed to print, and his workshop was exactly what I was looking for!” Glenn Humphrey, past participant, Tony Bonanno printmaking workshop

One of the most scenic and dynamic landscapes of the American West is White Sands National Monument in southern New Mexico. In this combination field/lab workshop, you are inspired and challenged to capture the drama and beauty of the remarkable dune system that covers almost 275 square miles of the Tularosa Basin at the northern end of the Chihuahuan Desert.

Our adventure begins in Alamogordo, New Mexico as we spend two-and-a-half days at White Sands National Monument, exploring our creativity, expanding our visual and technical skills, and learning about the natural and cultural landscape that surrounds us. We then drive to Santa Fe and spend the next two days in The Workshops state-of-art digital lab to process and print our images. Tony reviews, discusses, and guides your image processing workflow, placing special emphasis on color management and archival digital printing using both Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom.
